HAAKE™ Rheomex OS Single Screw Extruder System
The Thermo Scientific™ HAAKE Rheomex lab single-screw extruders, designed for the HAAKE PolyLab OS torque rheometer platform, focus on analyzing the rheological and processing properties of various materials. With just a small sample size, users can simulate production processes and generate films or profiles for further testing.
				Single-Screw Extrusion
Single-screw laboratory extruders provide consistent data during the extrusion process, helping to verify process parameters such as speed, energy, and temperature for unfamiliar materials. These extruders are ideal for producing small quantities of new polymers, including strands, sheets, pellets, and blown films, in research and development. Equipped with measuring ports for melt pressure and melt temperature, these extruders allow the study of process parameters along the extruder barrels, which come in different lengths (length/diameter ratios). A die can be connected at the end of the extruder barrel to form the polymer melt into strands or films. Special rheological dies (such as slit, rod, or x-die) enable the measurement of shear and elongational viscosity at defined shear rates. A variety of screw geometries are available to customize the extrusion process, including different compression ratios, venting, and mixing sections. Wear-reduced screws and barrels extend the system’s lifespan. Standard pellet feeders, along with specialized feeding systems for powders, pastes, liquids, or highly viscous rubber, complete the setup.

The HAAKE Rheomex extruder incorporates necessary measuring, control, and monitoring technology, simplifying lab handling and ensuring safe operation. Key design features for ease of use and safety include:
				- Mobile measuring sensors (eliminating handling of hot parts)
- Integrated heating/cooling circuits (reducing connection errors)
- Computer-controlled peripheral units (for improved reproducibility and documentation)
									Typical applications include:
				- Evaluating material extrudability
- Creating homogeneous melts
- Producing samples for various tests (optical, mechanical, weathering)
- Measuring rheological properties (viscosity, elasticity)
- Studying the effects of individual and combined additives (stabilizers, lubricants, antioxidants, UV stabilizers, pigments, fillers)
- Foam extrusion
